THIS is an important recall alert just released from IBM. 

IBM has issued a recall for their G51 and G51T Monitors. That may overheat and catch fire. IBM said 5 customers have reported smoke from the overheating monitors. With one incident causing "minor damage". As a result IBM has issued a recall of these monitors which have the following model numbers on the back of the unit. 6541-02N,6541-02E,6541-02S,6541-Q0N,6541-Q0E and 6541-Q0S. In addittion the label on the back shows a manufacture date between June of 1997 and September of 1997. 

If you have one of these monitors. IBM asks that you stop using it IMMEDIATELY and contact the IBM repair center at 866-644-3155 . Between the hours of 9am and 7pm EST Mon-Friday. IBM will then send you a box with prepaid shipping. IBM will then inspect the monitor to see if it at risk of catching fire and will make any necessary repairs and return it to you.
